land inheritance in hawaii?

my great grandfather left land in hawaii .. now other people in the family are pursuing it … my grandma is the only living sibiling .. wouldn’t she receive all of the land? or are other (deceased) sibilings entitled to it?

Depends on if he left a will and how he was in title to the property. Need a property atty on this one.

Can anyone purchase land in Hawaii?

I was wondering if the purchase of land in Hawaii was restricted to the indigenous people of Hawaii?

Actually, there are only some places where you can buy it in fee. Other places (particularly beach front) are often either owned by land trusts and ‘long term leased’ or reserved to natives or both. There is still a lot you can buy, though.

Earthquakes usually don’t ruin crops, the volcano’s might though. I don’t know that you can buy cheap land in Hawaii.

Why is the memorial site for Captain James Cook in Kealakekua Bay Hawaii, British land and territory?

It what year was that arranged and done?
Shouldn’t it be a part of Hawaii and the USA?

There is a monument to Capt, Cook there because he discovered the islands, the monument was erected in 1874 http://www.hawaiiweb.com/hawaii/html/sites/captain_cooks_monument.html. The actual memorial is in Canberra http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_James_Cook_Memorial

Not including zoo animals… haha

It might be the simple feral cat. Their population is booming (disastrously for the ecology there) since the 90’s. I know I saw about 15 or so of them while I was there in 2002. As far as native land bound predators go I believe they have the weight and the population advantage unless the brown tree snake has actually picked up a stable population there. (which I have not seen in the news).

Anyone else able to dispute feral cats as taking the cake?

(Note they are of course invasive species to the islands, so it wouldn’t apply if you only meant true native species of hawaii.)
