A slideshow of my house for sale in Kaua’i; I lived there for a year in the hopes of starting a farm and education center, but my small business failed, I was diagnosed with cancer, and my investments took a dive, all within my first six months.
I bought the house with my retirement savings – for about $100,000 more than its current list price – and it looks like my down payment is down the toilet, but it could be worse – I could be one of Bernie Madhoff’s clients! At least I am young and have time to recover from the loss. That AND I had some awesome doctors in Kaua’i who saved my life.
Here is my Realtor’s listing for the home: http://www.kymryperez.com/address.php?property_ID=20
It is currently the cheapest 3-bedroom (it is technically a 4-bedroom) with acreage on the South Side of Kaua’i, which (I think) is the side with the best beaches and the best weather.

My husband and I are in the early planning stages for a big milestone wedding anniversary. We initially decided on a cruise to Hawaii. Now he is waffling. He thinks Hawaii will be too "touristy". Well, it probably is, but I’m there for the beautiful scenery. Anyway, he responds best to visual simulation, so is there a movie (drama or comedy) that is filmed in Hawaii that casts it in a very beautiful light. I need to make my husband want to go to Hawaii again. Thank you in advance.
I highly suggest coming to Kauai. I worked as a bartender at the airport in Lihue, and a good 95% of the people told me "This is what I thought Hawaii would be like." It has law that states quite literally that ‘no building is to be higher off the ground than a coconut tree,’ or about 3 stories, and it’s true, you will never see a building higher off the ground here. There are a ton of movies that were filmed on Kauai, Jurassic Park, 6 Days 7 Nights, South Pacific, Donovan’s Reef is a great example, it was filmed entirely here. Here are a couple more pics to help your husband see the untouched beauty of Kauai:

I couldn’t post them all, but type the following key words into yahoo search and show him what comes up: Kauai, Kapaa, Lihue, Hanalei, and Wailua. The first will show you mostly the beauty of the island, and the rest will show you what to expect day to day driving around. I hope this helped, Happy Anniversery!
Hi,
Just got back from Kauai, and properties there are way…let me say this again….way too expensive for what you get. A shack with 1/4 acre of land can go for 500K or more. Plus there’s so many homes for sale there it’s hardly an investment. A condo in order to be investment grade must have at least two bed and baths, and be right at the ocean to rent consistently. This will not guarantee consistent rents either. You have to understand that there is a huge glut of rental properties on most of the island chain. Agents will try to sell you on the investment idea of owning there, but for sale signs are everywhere. Like I said I just got back two weeks ago, and we saw several hundred units for sale along with many single family homes. You have to wonder why??? It’s a very beautiful place, but extremely expensive there. The average cost for a two bed two bath condo is around 950K. One bed and one bath start around 675K for a decent unit. It’s very hard to make that monthly payment on rents.
Hi my name is Derik And I will be moving to hawaii and im going to stay there until I die. Im 20 years old. Im into sales and good at it. Im also going to do a home base business (Herbalife) with a full time job.
I will be going out there with $20,000 until I get stuff going. I also have a friend who will be coming and he will have $2,000 plus He gets $600 each month Direct Deposit from disability.
Should that be enough to get my life in hawaii off to a good start.
We will rent a room from someone
I know anything is possible. Hawaii is cheaper than parts of California, New York and other parts of the country.
Plus I can Fish for food. Shop at a goodwill, fle/farmers markets.
Ive never had a problem getting a job because im good at talking.
Good luck with that plan, chief.
